The Teachers for Global Classrooms Program is administered by IREX for the US Department of State. My adventure began on June 9, when I received an email stating that I had been accepted into the fellowship, along with 75 others! Then, the fellowship began with an 8-week online collaborative course with educators around the country, held in Fall 2016. The course was an invigorating experience as we studied the importance and necessity of global education, heard from voices from within the global ed community, examined the skills globally competent students need, and collaborated among our fellow educators on how best to implement global ed practices into our curriculum.
The resources on this page are designed with YOU, the educator, in mind. If you're a newbie to global education or you've had some experience with it already, this page is for you. It contains an introduction to global ed, as well as materials and ideas to get global ed started in your classroom. You will feel like you are on "information overload," but spend some time to watch the videos, read the statistics, and thoughtfully consider the importance of this work! Enjoy! |
Go Glocal! Thinking globally suggests that we consider the concept of home. What is home, exactly? Taiye Selosi considers this question and concludes that the world is her home, although she feels compelled to act wherever she is currently. A great watch!
Take a look at the classroom of the future. Does your class look like it? Global education is a great place to start!
The links above will help give you a "crash course" on global education. Read the top two links first for what global education is all about, and then click on the bottom ones for further information on how you can implement global education.
